My name is Benoît Jeanmaire, and I have been a professional portrait artist for five years. Originally from the Vosges region of France, I chose to make my home in Troyes, drawn to the charm and rich heritage of this beautiful medieval city, conveniently located near Paris.

I have been drawing since childhood, and portraiture gradually became a natural direction for my work. I have always been particularly drawn to faces, expressions, and anatomy, as well as to animal behavior, which I enjoy observing and understanding.

As a self-taught artist, I have learned the fundamentals of art over the years through books, studying the work of many artists, and, above all, through my own practice.

What I enjoy most about portraiture is the search for what makes each subject unique. Beyond simply reproducing their features, I focus first on creating a composition that brings the subject to life, while paying particular attention to expression, the eyes, and the overall aesthetics of the piece.

I create every portrait entirely freehand, which gives me great freedom in my interpretation and continually encourages me to evolve my work. Over the years, my approach has naturally developed toward a more colorful, vibrant, and luminous style.
